The post-Saban Tide come into Madison on the heels of a minor scare last week against the USF Bulls where they struggled to hold a 14 - 13 lead at the end of three quarters before finally putting up 28 points in the fourth, letting the Alabama faithful let out a big sigh of relief.

Jalen Milroe ended the night passing for 199 yards, completing 17 of 27 passes and a pair of touchdowns. He also ran for two touchdowns while Jam Miller put up 140 yards on 15 rushes, including a 56-yard dash that ended in his only touchdown of the night. Ryan Williams led the Tide in receiving for the second game in a row with 68 yards on 4 catches and a TD. That touchdown was Williams' third in the last two games which ties him with Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith, who together lead the nation in touchdown receptions among FBS freshmen.

The Tide defense was the real hero last week as they held USF down while the Alabama offense righted itself. Led by Linebacker Jihaad Campbell, who racked up 11 tackles on the night along with Defensive Back Malachi Moore who had seven tackles as well as breaking up two pass attempts. The Tide kept the Bulls to only one touchdown and three field goals while holding them to just two third-down conversions in 18 attempts and stopped the Bulls offense twice on fourth down tries.

Alabama is currently ranked fourth in the AP Top 25 as well as fourth in the nation in the ESPN College Football Power Index for the 2024 season.

Wisconsin Preview

The Badgers won their second game of the season last week against the South Dakota Coyotes 27 - 13. With starting running back Tawee Walker missing the week 2 contest due to injury, the bulk of the running duties fell to Chez Mellusi who rushed for 60 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns while Cade Yacamelli averaged 9.1 yards per carry going for 73 yards on 8 carries including a 29 yard scamper.

Senior Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke threw for 214 yards completing 17 of 27 passes (63%) and one touchdown with no interceptions. Alabama's defense will definitely test this Badger offense as Wisconsin struggled in week one against Western Michigan, trailing by one point with only 11 minutes left, and they only led South Dakota by seven points heading into the fourth quarter. They are going to need a lot more ammunition to stand up to this potent Tide defense.

Wisconsin is currently not ranked in the AP Top 25 and is ranked 63rd in the ESPN College Football Power Index for the 2024 season.
