Genesis Scottish Open 2024: Round 2 Best Bets & AI Caddie Pick
Table of Contents
If you live on the east coast of the United States like I do, there's a good chance you were up at 3:15 AM this morning. Why, you ask? Well, Round 1 of the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open was on.
I personally don't like missing watching golf if I can avoid it, and I am certainly nuts enough to wake up that early to watch Justin Thomas run out early to a big lead. After Round 1, Thomas leads Sungjae Im and the rest of this deep field by a shot after he fired an eight-under round of 62.
Following every round, we’ll be going through my favorite AI golf picks for the following round, as well as the Rithmm-backed AI Caddie hole score picks I’m rolling with. Let’s get into Round 2!

Tommy Fleetwood to Birdie or Better Hole 2 (+650)
Alright, I know +650 is a bit of stretch, but hear me out.
Fleetwood is playing some nice golf, as he typically does when he crosses back across the pond to play events in the U.K. these days. Infact, this is a tournament he has a good shot to win it all, a feat that would be his first win on the PGA Tour.
You're not going to get there without making some birdies that you wouldn't normally make, and this qualifies. Hole 2 played as the sixth-hardest hole on the course today, but I expect things to go a bit smoother in Round 2, with an easier pin location to target, especially if you hit a draw naturally like Tommy Lad does.
I think Fleetwood can make some noise early tomorrow if he's able to put a 3 on the card for this hole, and +650 gives us 14% implied odds, so with our AI Caddie model in Rithmm giving this a 20% chance, let's take the swing.

Matchup Play: Sahith Theegala > Byeong Hun An(-105)
There's a simple thing I have stuck to all season when betting Round 2 matchups: always bet on Sahith Theegala.
Theegala is the Round 2 king, with a scoring average of 68.41 across 17 total Friday rounds this season, a number that ranks third on the PGA Tour behind only Scottie Scheffler and Keith Mitchell. That's pretty good company.
Looking at this matchup, a couple of things stand out to me. First off, this is not a course where Theegala's habit of spraying tee shots is going to kill him, necessarily. Despite his driving accuracy being 61%, he was able to post a very respectable four-under par round.
An's driving accuracy was even worse at 30%, but his approach game was impeccable, gaining the most strokes on approach in the field. The question is, can he keep that up?
I think betting on Theegala's consistency in Round 2s this season is better bet for this situation. An isn't awful on Fridays, but he ranks 98th in Round 2 Scoring Average with an average round of 70.3, which would be a bit disappointing for him.
I think Theegala, who had a solid round himself gaining strokes everywhere except with the putter, is the way to go.
