Preview and Analysis for Giants vs Panthers AI Prediction

Giants Preview

The Giants are riding a four-game losing streak and are currently sitting in last place in the NFC East with a 2 - 7 record, five games back of the East leading Washington Commanders who beat the Giants last week 27 - 22.

Quarterback Daniel Jones ended last week going 20 of 26 for 174 yards and two touchdowns, no interceptions and two sacks. Jones is 24th in the league in QBR (48.2) and has only thrown for 1880 yards and eight touchdowns with 5 interceptions in nine games.

They will need to lean more into Tyrone Tracy who has 442 rushing yards on 89 carries and two touchdowns to help open up the passing game for Jones. But with that being said, Jones has been sacked a total of 27 times, or three times per game, this season so his line will need to do a much better job of protecting him to give him the time needed to be more effective.

The Giants are ranked 27th in the ESPN NFL Power Rankings for week 10 of the 2024 season.

Panthers Preview

The Panthers broke a five-game losing streak last week when they came up big against the New Orleans Saints with a 23 - 22 win, which proved to be the final nail in the tenure of Saints head coach Dennis Allen, who was let go by the Saints following their performance against Carolina.

Quarterback Bryce Young, the No. 1 overall pick for the 2023 NFL draft, got his first start after being benched in week 3 for Andy Dalton. Young was 16 of 26 passing for 171 yards, a touchdown and one interception and one sack and has already been named the starter for the Panthers in Germany this Sunday

The Panthers had some help from running back Chuba Hubbard who ran for 27 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns, tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders who had 87 yards on four catches and wideout Xavier Legette who caught one touchdown.

The Panthers are ranked 32nd (last) in the ESPN NFL Power Rankings for week 10 of the 2024 season.

How I Used Rithmm Models for my Giants vs Panthers AI Prediction

I know the Panthers are not that good this year, not that the Giants are a powerhouse, but I find myself curious about this line. It opened with Carolina -3.5 and has moved up steadily to -6.5 where it currently sits. We haven't hit the magic number of -7 yet in spite of the heavy money on the Giants with a 72% bet split.

I'm a contrarian by nature so when my "gut" said this seemed odd, I quickly ran to my trusty Rithmm app and, lo and behold, it felt the same way (*betting tip, never go with just your gut). The Rithmm app is showing this spread at +2.9 for the Panthers and with a 60.7% win probability, this lined up nicely with my other metrics, so I'll be taking the Panthers +6.5.

That all being said, I'm not opposed to taking a sprinkle on the Panthers to win this game outright. And, again, when I take this thought process to the Rithmm app, my metrics and instinct seem aligned nicely here.

I usually like to see my win probability higher than the 41.2% the app is telling me, but again, other things I look to show this being a closer game with the Panthers actually having a chance to pull one out at the end. So I'll also be taking the Panthers +235 on the moneyline for 0.5 units.
