The fighting Illini have been one of the hottest teams in the country. Entering the season unranked they have risen to number 19 in the AP Top 25. 

Illinois has received stellar play from Junior QB Luke Altmyer. Altmyer stat line has been impressive.

Last year in nine games, Altmyer only had 13 touchdown passes and racked up 10 interceptions. His improvement is noticeable. 

The Illinois defense deserves half the credit for their team’s undefeated start. Currently, a top twenty-scoring defense allowing only 12.5 points per game. 

Xavier Scott is having an outstanding year for the Illini defense. He has collected a team-high three interceptions to go with one forced fumble.

Penn State Preview

Coach James Franklin has his squad off to another fast start. PSU is starting off 3-0 for the fourth straight season. 

QB Drew Allar is in his second year as the PSU starting QB. The Junior from Median, OH threw for a season-high 309 yards last week against Kent State as the Lions won by a score of 56-0. 

Unlike Illinois, this will be Penn State’s first-ranked opponent. Their hardest matchup was at West Virginia to open the season.
