Previews and Analysis for Indiana vs Nebraska AI Prediction

Indiana Preview

The Hoosiers are 8 - 2 to start off the season and 1 - 0 in the Big Ten where they sit tied for 2nd place with Michigan and Michigan St. and are a half game behind Big 10 leader UCLA.

Indiana has won four in a row and are coming off of an 82 - 67 win against Minnesota four days ago in their Big Ten season opener. Oumar Ballo had 18 points and seven rebounds while Malik Reneau added 16 points and seven rebounds with four assists and Bryson Tucker also put in 16 points on six rebounds.

In spite of the big win, Indiana had a few lapses on defense and Hoosier head coach Mike Woodson said after the win, "...when you're playing good defense, it's nice to watch film, but when things kind of go sour, there are miscues in terms of switching and somebody might get beat backdoor... when you're playing in the Big Ten, going through this grind, man, those type of plays can beat you."

Indiana is currently ranked 50th in the ESPN College Basketball Power Index for 2024-25.

Nebraska Preview

The Huskers enter tonight 6 - 2 overall and 0 - 1 in their conference and are coming off of a solid drubbing at the hands of Michigan State in their Big Ten opener six days ago 89 - 52.

Nebraska is led by guard Brice Williams who averages 17.5 points per game to go with 2.5 rebounds and 1.8 assists and Connor Essegian who has 13.0 points per game, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Hoosier head coach Fred Hoiberg said about the Indiana game, “It's a team that will pose a lot of the same problems that Michigan State did, and if we don't respond to a run, to adversity, the same thing is gonna happen that happened on Saturday afternoon for the entire season.”

In spite of the blowout in Spartan country, the Huskers are typically solid on defense ranking 33rd in KenPom's defensive ranking with 93.7 points allowed in adjusted defensive efficiency per 100 possessions.

Indiana is currently ranked 49th in the ESPN College Basketball Power Index for 2024-25.

Models for my Indiana vs Nebraska AI Prediction

This should be a close, nip and tuck game even though Nebraska is currently laying -4.5 on the spread.

The issue here is the public doesn't agree with this as we see heavy money to the tune of a 60% bet split on Indiana to cover. And as you can see above, even my Rithmm models are not being definitive in their predictions.

Yes, the app shows Nebraska should cover the -4.5 but with that yellow caution sign, you have to stop and take a second look and compare this to any of your other metrics to make a more informed decision.

As all three of my models are in agreement that Nebraska will cover, in spite of the caution, my lean is to Nebraska. This is a home game, a Big Ten matchup and the crowd is going to be energized.
