After a three-week hiatus, the LIV tour heads to Greenbrier Golf Club in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Golfers will come to the Old White course and test their skills at this 18-hole par-70 course built in 1914. A former stomping grounds for the PGA, who played there from 2010 through the 2019 season, Greenbrier is now a stop for LIV golf for a second, and possibly final, year.

Let's jump into my 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier course preview and best bets provided by my Rithmm App.

2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier Overview

Back in the US after a three week break and stops in Spain and the UK, LIV returns for its 12th event of the season in White Sulphur Springs, WV on August 16 - 18. Teams will tee off at 1:15 PM EDT on Friday at hole one with last year's overall winner Bryson DeChambeau. The 30 year old shot a 58 at this same course in 2023 and considers it one of his most favorite rounds of golf he's enjoyed the most.

The shotgun start will see all 54 players, 13 teams of four players each, along with two wild cards players. These wild card players will earn points on the individual standings and, depending on how they perform, can earn a spot on a future LIV Golf team. There are 14 events in LIV Golf this season with both individual and team championships on the line.

Rithmm Models used for 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier

The Old White course at Greenbrier is a classic par-70 course with a yardage of 7,299. The Greenbrier course is ranked 34th in Golf Digests '100 Greatest Public' list for 2023 - 2024 and the course is contrasted by a 615 yard par-5 at the 17th hole followed quickly by a par-3, 160 yard 18th. Hole 6 is a par-4, 456 yard one handicap that requires a long tee shot followed by a fairway wood or long iron 2nd shot just to make the green in regulation.

Kokrak is currently 32nd on the tour with 28.58 points but he does have 4 Top-20 finishes this season including one in the last 3 tournaments. At 62.2% win probability and 36% Top-20 finish rate, I don't have a problem seeing this as a solid possibility.

Top 10: Carlos Ortiz +170 (49.1% Rithmm Win Probability)

Ortiz is sitting in 12th this season with one win under his belt, three Top-10 finishes and seven Top 20 finishes. Ortiz should be in the mix regardless and with a near 50% chance of hitting, I'm not shy to take this plus money bet at all.

Top 5: Carlos Ortiz +400 (28.8% Rithmm Win Probability)

Once again, Ortiz is showing signs of being more than capable of taking a top 5 spot as well. He has two top-5 finishes this season including the win at Houston. At 28.8%, I don't mind this pick at all.

Outright Winner Pick for the 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier: Cameron Smith +1600 (10.5% Rithmm Win Probability)

The Australian has had a solid season and currently sits in 6th on the tour with 116.66 points. Smith has had two top-5 finishes this season, both of them being 2nd place finishes, the last one being in the last tournament at the JCB in England three weeks ago. Smith has six top-10 finishes this year and there is little doubt he'll be contending for the top spot this weekend.

Final Thoughts on 2024 LIV Golf Greenbrier

With the LIV Golf season winding down, players will be vying for that top spot in points currently being held by Joaquin Niemann. This course suits most of the players and shouldn't be too tough of a test for them. The world will be watching DeChambeau trying to break 58 here and he is a natural favorite to win, but don't discount the picks above.
