Previews and Analysis for Creighton vs Nebraska AI Prediction

Creighton Preview

The Bluejays are 4 - 0 and sit at the top of the Big East along with five other heavyweights who are also undefeated on the season.

Creighton has won 7 of their last meetings with Nebraska and the road team has won each of the last three meetings with Creighton blowing out the Huskers by 29 points last season.

The Bluejays haven't had much competition early this season and have been winning games handily, though they did have a bit of trouble holding off UT Rio Grande Valley in their opener. Center Ryan Kalkbrenner has been on fire throughout the season as he's averaging 25.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists this season and last week he put in 14 / 12 / 2 against UMKC. Creighton also has Guard Steven Ashworth who is averaging 16 points per game with five rebounds along with seven assists.

Creighton is currently ranked 14th in the AP Top 25 and 15th in the ESPN College Basketball Power Index for 2024-25.

Nebraska Preview

The Cornhuskers are 3 - 1 on the season and are coming off of a tough loss to St. Mary's five days ago where they lost 77 - 74 as they struggled all night with poor shooting (5 of 17 on 3's) and turnovers (15).

Led my guard Brice Williams who is averaging 18.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game this season, who along with Juwan Gary, 10.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists and Rollie Worster, 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists, give the Huskers have a solid front court that should be putting in more points than they have up to this point.

Defensively their defense is better than they looked last week against St. Mary's and will definitely need to stiffen up against this potent Creighton offense.

Nebraska is currently not ranked in the AP Top 25 and 42nd in the ESPN College Basketball Power Index for 2024-25.

Models for my Creighton at Nebraska AI Prediction

There isn't much fat to chew here. The moneyline is obvious but too inflated to really consider at -625 and my models are a little all over the place with the spread. But, there is some indication from one of my better models that +10 is in striking distance.

As you can see above, my Rithmm app gives this a 60% win probability. Do I trust the model? That's a different story and  one that comes with some nuance. The most significant is this will be the most difficult team Creighton has faced this season, it is a home game for Nebraska against an in-state rival and that crowd is going to be pumped.

Does that equal a win or even the covering of a spread? No, but this should be a good game and has the potential to be much closer than the spread above. Is it worth a sprinkle? Yes. I believe whenever you start to get into double digit spreads with two good teams, you have to consider it.

More likely than the spread is the total. My models are all in agreement that this will go under 152 but they lack the "green star" of approval from the Rithmm team. Am I deterred? Not a bit. While the money is heavy to the under, this line has crept up slowly from opening at 150.5. Usually that means sharp money is going to the over and that might have a little bit to do with the yellow warning in my Rithmm app.

But I like the model. I like the opportunity here and I will be taking the under 152 for this game.
