Packers Preview
Green Bay is coming off of a bye week after losing to the Detroit Lions two weeks ago 24 - 14, which broke a four-game winning streak. Green Bay is 6 - 3 on the season and sits in 3rd place, two games behind those same Detroit Lions.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love was able to take full advantage of the bye week to rest a strained groin and was able to participate in practice this week. Love has thrown for 1820 yards and 15 touchdowns on the season but has also tossed 10 interceptions. All of this while missing effectively two and a half games to injury.
Love has spread the ball equally between wide receivers Jayden Reed, who has 620 yards on 36 catches with three touchdowns and Romeo Doubs who has 412 yards on 30 catches and two touchdowns. Throw in Tucker Kraft who has 5 touchdowns with 376 yards on 28 catches and you can see that, when healthy, Love has a nice trio to help offset the running of Josh Jacobs who has 762 yards on 158 carries with three touchdowns and is averaging 84.7 yards a game.
Defensively the Packers rank 12th allowing 320 yards per game and 23 touchdowns on the season. They rank 10th in run defense, 15th in pass defense and 11th in scoring.
A key defensive player to watch will be Xavier McKinney who has six interceptions and 26 tackles on the season.
The Packers are ranked 9th in the ESPN NFL Power Rankings for week 11 of the 2024 season.
Bears Preview
What can you say about the Bears that hasn't already been said? They have lost three games in a row and are currently 4 - 5 on the season and in last place in the NFC North, four games back of the Lions.
Bears quarterback Caleb Williams will be taking direction from new offensive coordinator Thomas Brown and the change will hopefully spark a resurgence, or at least some life, in the Bears offense. Williams has gone 48 of 95 without a touchdown over the three-game losing streak and was sacked nine times against the Patriots in their 19 - 3 loss last week.
Overall, Williams has thrown for 1785 yards this season with nine touchdowns and only five interceptions but has been sacked a staggering 38 times.
Defensively the Bears are ranked 13th in the league allowing 323.4 yards per game and have given up 15 touchdowns. They rank 24th in rush defense, 7th in pass defense and 7th in scoring.
The Packers are ranked 22nd in the ESPN NFL Power Rankings for week 11 of the 2024 season.
How I Used Rithmm Models for my Packers vs Bears AI Prediction
The Bears shouldn't win this. With the Packers rested and coming off of a bye week and the Bears struggles of late, inside and outside of the locker room, it seems a foregone conclusion that the Packers will walk away with a quick win.
But there's a few things to look at here. The Bears defense is a pretty stout group and while they struggle with their run defense, their pass defense is pretty stiff and may give Love a solid showing. Remember, the Bears don't necessarily need to score a lot of points, they just need to stop the Packers from scoring a lot of points. You know, like old school Bears football used to be.
My Rithmm model this week is a lean. It's not the most solid pick I've been given in a while and only has a 56.3% win probability. But if this Bears defense can stiffen a little more and the offense comes out loose after this past week's shakeups, there is a good chance they could keep it close. The model thinks so and I'm going to lean into this lean and take the Bears at +5.5.
