RBC Canadian Open 2024: Round 2 Best Bets & AI Caddie Picks

Round 1 has wrapped up play at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club, and if we’ve learned anything, it’s that this course is a level more challenging than it was in 2019 when it was previously held here prior to being renovated.

This year, only 49 players are under par after one round, compared to the 83 that shot sub-70 scores in 2019. David Skinns leads with an eight-under 62, but he is closely followed behind by Sam Burns and Sean O’Hair, with pre-tournament favorite Rory McIlroy lurking four shots back.

RBC Canadian Open Round 2 AI Caddie Picks

Corey Conners To Birdie or Better Hole 12 (+240)

We’re starting out with a simple play in my opinion. Conners birdied this hole during Thursday’s round, hitting his approach shot out of the rough to inside ten feet and then holing the birdie putt.

In my opinion, Conners is due to make a few more birdies in Round 2 after only making three in Round 1. He had the tenth-best Strokes Gained: Approach per Datagolf, and despite also gaining nearly two strokes putting, he missed several opportunities, including birdie putts on both par 5s.

The 12th hole played fourth-easiest today, and is slated to play a bit easier tomorrow without the flag being all that way at the back of the green again. Conners is a 7:18 AM tee time tomorrow morning, so pop this in quickly as he’s a 28% chance to birdie this hole vs. 22% for the rest of the field.

Tom Kim to Birdie or Better Hole 1 (+425)

I found the biggest discrepancy I’ve seen so far in multiple tournaments of using the Rithmm AI Caddie tool here. Kim is listed at a 32% chance to birdie the opener for him tomorrow versus a paltry 21% for the rest of the field, so to get better than 4/1 odds on him is an easy take.

The first hole is playing harder than 13 other holes, so this could be a tall ask, but he had a birdie putt from 13 feet today at 1 and just missed it, so this hole can be scoreable with 17 birdies recorded in today’s round.

Kim tees off at 12:44 PM tomorrow so you have some time to mull this bet over, but I think this is a perfect play. Kim will be coming out looking at fire at pins being eight shots back, so I’m taking the plunge here.

RBC Canadian Open Round 2 Bet

Matt Wallace Round 2 Lowest Score (+7000)

This can be a very fun play that you should not put a lot of money on. 

Wallace currently ranks ninth on Tour this season in Round 2 Scoring Average, with an average score of 69 in 13 rounds. He’s currently sitting T20 at -2, so he has some wiggle room to be aggressive and I think he will be.

Wallace had an outstanding Round 1 from a ballstriking perspective. He gained 4.53 strokes on approach and 5.31 ballstriking, each numbers that led the entire field by more than a full stroke. He lost a stroke and a half putting and didn’t fare great around the green, but those are his strongest part of his game.

If Wallace keeps this approach level up, and finds a hot putter come tomorrow, this bet is more realistic than people think.
