Travelers Championship Round 2 Picks
Table of Contents
Fresh off of a wild weekend at Pinehurst #2 for the U.S. Open, the PGA Tour headed north to Cromwell, Connecticut for the last Signature event of the season, the Travelers Championship. Round 1 was full of low scores, with only several players finishing the round over par. Tom Kim leads at -8, with a crowd sitting two shots back.
This is a tournament that forces you to be solid with your wedges and putter in order to post low scores, so that's a common theme we'll be looking for in our bets this week.
Following every round, we’ll be going through my favorite AI golf picks for the following round, as well as the Rithmm-backed AI Caddie hole score picks I’m rolling with. Let’s get into Round 2!

Travelers Championship Round 2 AI Caddie Pick
Xander Schauffele to Birdie or Better Hole 3 (+185)
Going back to the well with Schauffele is never a bad idea. He's playing the best golf of anyone on Earth not named Scottie Scheffler this season, and the statistics back it up. Over the last six months (since the start of the FedExCup season), Schauffele ranks second in Par 4 scoring as well as seventh in Birdie or Better %.
That makes this pick perfect. Schauffele birdied Hole 3 in Round 1, and the pin location for Round 2 is accessible as well, on the right side of the green but not too far back where it's too deep to stick it close.
Our Rithmm predictions give Xander a39% chance to make birdie on this hole, and when you consider that +185 odds comes out to around a 35.04% chance of hapening, a birdie is perfectly in the cards for the reigning PGA Champion.
Travelers Championship Round 4 Best Bet
Matchup Play: Tony Finau > Patrick Cantlay (+100)
We had a solid week last week on matchups, going 2-1 on them to finish another tournament in the black. We're starting off strong here, with Finau to put another strong performance together for Round 2.
First of all, Finau played absolutely electric today, so I'm surprised this price is where it is. He paced the field in strokes gained on approach, gaining 3.42 strokes, 0.62 more than any other player. His only mistake was at the short Par 4 15th, where he flew his driving iron into the water and made bogey.
Cantlay, on the other hand, struggled slightly during an up-and-down round. Despite seven birdies, he also had five bogeys and lost strokes around the green and on approach. He only was able to get up and down 1/7 times.
Finau ranks better than Cantlay in Round 2s, with a scoring average of 69.4 compared to Cantlay's 70.1. Given the iffy performance in Round 1, I'm less inclined to thin that Cantlay will bounce back enough to beat Finau when Tony looked terrific in the opening round.
